One of the most significant books that I have read this year is "Inside the Revolution" by Joel Rosenberg.  The well-known author is a Jewish evangelical Christian who is very knowledgeable about current trends in the Middle East and deeply passionate to see Muslims come to faith in Jesus Christ.  His other books include "Epicenter," "The Last Jihad" and "The Ezekiel Option."

The book is divided into three sections.  The first focuses on the agenda of "The Radicals" who promote violent Jihad and whose goal is to impose Islamic law on the whole world.  The second deals with "The Reformers" who seek to advance Islam while abhorring violence.  The third section explains the amazing work God is doing through "The Revivalists," those in different parts of the Middle East who have come to personal faith in Christ and who are faithfully serving Him in spite of persecution.  As Rosenberg says, this is the best untold story in the Middle East.

Rosenberg makes a strong case for the fact that God is wonderfully transforming the hearts of lives of Muslims, especially in Iran.  This is happening in spite of the violence that is being propagated by radical Muslims.  In actual fact, many are coming to Christ as a direct reaction to this bloodshed and violence that is causing them to become disillusioned with Islam.

I strongly recommend this carefully researched book to Christians who want to understand current events in the Middle East and respond in a biblical way to Muslims.  That biblical response needs to involve reaching out to Muslims with love and compassion, intercessory prayer and personal evangelism.
